Default 9700 Charging issue

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

I bought a T-mobile 9700 and am having some weird charging issues.Basically I found that the wall charger will stop working once in a while.Initially I thought the wall charger was broken, but then it started working again.

I was trying to charge the phone just now and it was working properly. But after a while when I looked at the phone the charging sign disappeared and when I tried to unplug/plug in the wall charger again i get no response from the phone.

I'm using the data cable to charge now,but I really hope that I can figure out what was wrong with the wall charger.

Could this be a software issue instead of hardware issue?

Thanks for your time!

Is the data cable acting the same way? Does it happen when the charger is plugged into any plug or just one?

Not likely software. Could be the charger or the mini-USB port.

what happened was that because i got a new battery,i was trying to discharge the battery completely and fully recharge it.

so when the phone was completely dead,i plugged in the wall charger and it started charging.first i saw the white screen with battery and red line across, then the phone turned on.i went to do some reading then when i checked back after a while i saw the charging sign disappeared.i pulled the wall charger and plugged back in and the charging sign doesn't show any more.i tried the wall charger on different plugs and its the same thing.

the data cable does appear to charge the phone, although very slowly.

and the weird thing is this happened several times.for some reason the wall charger will mysteriously stop working and then out of nowhere when i try it it starts working again.

If you let it run completely down, you may have damaged the battery. You do not need to do that for lithium batteries. You did for the old NiCads, but not the new ones. In fact, you should never get below 20% and some BBs will shut off at that point.

I always keep mine plugged in and topped up when in the office. It won't overcharge.

Try a new charger and see if that works. Sounds like it might be the charger itself.
