I have a Blackberry 8100 that I'd like to use in Europe. Does anyone know if this is possible, does it have to be unlocked? Any info?.....

Since most of Europe has pre-paid cell phone cards (i think), can I jus buy a new sim/phone number and use my Pearl in Europe that way...My Pearl is NOT unlocked.

Yup it just needs to be unlocked. You can use the link in my signature to do that. Keep in mind most prepaid carriers in Europe do not offer prepaid blackberry service. So most Likely you will only be using voice

And you won't get data services like email on a pre-paid card. The exception is Orange (U.K.) who is now offering BlackBerry service on a pre-paid basis.

Generally, you only get phone and maybe SMS on pre-paid. And you have to get your BB unlocked. Horizon can do that for ya.

Not skirting the unlock issue, but I traveled to Italy with my 8110 last fall; I paid like $5.00 for a month of special international rates, but ended up with full data, email, and voice service in both Rome and Venice - I could use my phone there just like I can in the US. Not sure what I might have paid extra for this beyond the $5.00 but it was well worth it!

You also can use it with the AT&T sim card over Europe, I think you can add the unlimited international data plan and remove it after your trip, just pay roaming on phone calls

Im jus gonna go to my at&t store and they said they will unlock it.

You think the roaming fees for voice calls are high? You'd crap your pants if you saw a bill for roaming data fees!
