Which is nice to know, but has nothing to do with the fact that all of the device software is written by RIM. The carriers test it and release it. That's all.

Well, here are my impressions of 4.2.1.108..for what they are worth.

I've been running 4.2.1.108 since last week. And so far it seem much more stable that 107.
I have not had to do a single battery pull to reset the device since the upgrade.

I don't find it any quicker like some have reported. But it's no slower either.

I don't know if this is OS related, but I must say I have noticed the battery life getting shorter. This could be because the Handheld is a used unit and I have no idea how old the battery is, but I am having to charge almost daily now rather than every 2.5 days.

Overall, simply because of the stability, I'd say this is a vast improvement over 4.2.1.107.

Did you delete the vendor.xml file as instructed? I posted a more detailed answer in your thread.

Default Tmobile pearl multitap problem

multitap used to be working fine for me before I upgraded to 4.2.1.107. I had to upgrade since my DST changed earlier. Now I wish I could go back to older version. It seems .108 does not solve multitap problem neither. I have not tried .108 yet. Anyone using a version that do not have multitap problem, please let me know.

Here's an update on my previous battery life observations.

I removed several apps just after posting this, and fully charged the handheld from a nearly empty state. My battery status is currently at 50%, nearly 3 days later.
I do plug in to the USB port to sync, but it is never plugged in more than a few minute, so it is not getting much of charge there.

I would definiately have to say that the previous battery drain was NOT OS related.
A couple of the apps I uninstalled were bbtoday and beamberry. So it seems to me one of these (I suspect bbtoday) was the culprit.

And 4.2.1.108 is still rock solid.

Updated to .108 on my GF's Pearl. The interface seems much quicker than .94 that was loaded on the phone from AT&T (or the factory).

Default Dropped calls with 4.2.1.107

Hi all

We have 8 Pearl 8100 running 4.2.1.107.

2 x of them are experiencing dropped calls.

I believe it is because it is from phone is holding onto the cellsite for too long before finding a better site.

And the areas they are in.

By the time it does decide to change sites it is too late and drops the call.

Will .108 have better site hunting abilities?

The Pearls all have the THB Bury Carkits with external aerials so the phone has got the best possible reception.

regards

Mark

I upgraded from .107 to .108 and now can't get the MyFaves icons back on the screen. (Yes, I actually like them and want them there)

Anybody have any good ideas?

get on your myfaves account and tell it to update your phone. My gf's auto updated and came back right after I put the phone back on the network after the update.

I ended up changing the theme a couple of times until I could see the MyFaves icon in the options. Then, I could turn it on to display it.

Default Alternate download source for 4.2.1.108

[QUOTE=Spencer_CDS;730523]Download link: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...2B6EA7A23A56D2

I am not able to download this file via this link from China. I'm told that my IP address is not eligible. I guess they're blocking downloads from China for some reason. Anyone know of an alternate source for this file?

Thank you kindly...

So if I were to want to be able to read Chinese on my Pearl I'd have to look for an OS that is something with the suffix of C or M, sorry to ask again but my first question wasn't really answered. I have Chinese titled songs and it takes forever to re-enter the name for it, so if I were to switch to this OS would I be able to read it off the bat along with my English stuff, or would it be straight out Chinese.
