Default How long should it take the Bold to reset?

Please Login to Remove!

I have an AT&T Bold with 4.6.0.217 installed. I have noticed that since installing .214 (or maybe even .210), the reset cycle has been extremely long - north of 5 minutes. Does this make sense? Anyone else notice extremely long reset cycles? Any thoughts on whether this can be reduced?

Thanks,
Ian

Mine has been quite slow to start up on every OS version I've tried. I can just imagine, an emergency going down and for some reason waiting for this thing (or any BB for that matter) to go through the startup. My pc boots faster!

I have the same issue. Ever since installing .185 from the original .167 my Bold takes anywhere from 4 to 6 minutes to reboot. Interesting to see others share my same frustration.

Every build I have used falls into the 4-6 minute range, but the .214, .215, and .216 took longer than that (I would estimate 6-8 minutes).

Now here is a very interesting tidbit. I try to do a battery pull after every OS upgrade - I've read many places that it is good hygiene and helps with power drain issues. I noticed after the last battery pull that the Bold didn't seem to take as long to rest. So, I decided to time it. The reset cycle after a battery pull was only 2 minutes and 50 seconds (compared to 5 minutes and 45 seconds with a soft reset). Does this make any sense at all??

I usually do a soft reset every day or two - most often to refresh memory levels and just overall improve performance (I know this is to a large extent psychological). I now know that a battery pull is much faster. Very strange.

Just thought I'd share...

I agree
But instead of battery pull you can just hit alt+right shift+del togather twice and it will reset

Not sure if you're being serious or facetious, so I thought I'd just assume you're being serious. ALT-SHIFT-DEL is a soft reset (or twice for a hard reset). That's what's been taking us all 5 to 10 minutes. The battery pull - that has traditionally been viewed as the more "drastic" form of reset, now turns out to be MUCH quicker. I, for one, am never going to soft reset again.
