Default I think I understand.....But?!

Hmm....Ok.....

I'm ony 2 days old when it comes to BB and I'm in a research daze

Here is a little of my carrier info:
My carrier is a VERY Small regional even more like local provider they JUST launched gprs on the network 3 weeks ago! They offer MMS, Mobile Web, Email Connect?, and SMS - ALL unlimited use.They don't support Windows Mobile, Palm or Blackberry YET, But they have been successful in setup of Palm and Windows Mobile devices. They have not tried a Blackberry yet.... but are willing to give it a shot!

Now for the brain picking....
1. Blackberry Data vs. Standard Data Plans... What exactly is the difference?
Blocked Ports , Special software? Routing issues? or Whatever?

2.If my carrier offers Unrestricted Access to the internet can I use a BES provider to recieve PUSH email since my provider does not provide BIS or is some special connection to RIM needed that my carrier would not have??

So.....
In short is there ANY way my provider can get ALL the functions of my new BB 7100g working without costing them money to rollout extra equipment... they are NOT your average company they will troubleshoot unsupported devices till they figure out how to get it working on their network if possible!!!! I had them do it before in store and I had engineers on the phone helping to do it.

ANY info you can give in links or otherwise would be very much appreciated even if it way over my head I can pass it on to my carrier, I'm sure they would understand it.

Without the provider selling blackberry service, there is no way you are going to get the e-mail and PIN and most apps to work AT ALL.

So HBES/MDS service won't help?

What about the MobileWeb4U service looks like they offer a replacement to your carriers web service for all phones not just smartphones??

I agree - you won't get this to work. But do you know why?

When a carrier establishes a BlackBerry service they set up dedicated links (leased line) to RIM's Canadian data centre.

When you trurn your BlackBerry device on, it has a BlackBerry APN (service) enabled, which gives the device a private IP address in a range owned by the carrier (i.e 10.x.x.x or similar). The carrier's network provides a private connection to the RIM relay system, so no amount of port unblocking will help because your carrier doesn't have a connection to RIM, so your device will never send/receive BlackBerry data...

I hope this helps.

Thank you...I am glad to have an exact answer
I thought it may be that way but I was not sure and I searched all over the web but the answer I was looking for did not show up anywhere....

Now I'll either wait till my contract comed due in Feb. and switch carriers or if I'm lucky my carrier will support by then since they are catching up to the big boys... finally!

Ok... 1 last question I just thought of.........

Does that apply to Email PUSH technology or all data on the BB?
To be specific can I use my provider for WAP access only no Email?
Because I can enter an APN manually

And I don't think it has any chance at all since his carrier does not support BlackBerry, and he won't get to GPRS, so he can't get on the Internet.
