Well I am kinda pissed. I get a pearl from wirefly.com its a great grand wonderful phone but now I come to find out T-mobile blocks... every possible port on there data network.. and I am unable to log onto my SSH server VNC server.... well just about anything I have setup at my home office to control my servers from the phone.. Does anyone know a work around other then switching ports. because with what Ive seen reported online I dont even have enough ports to get all of my webservices running. Also I had another thought ... cancel my service with T-mobile I am still in the remorse period and sign up with ATT... they both run off sim cards dont they? and also do you think T-mobile will contact wirefly about the phone and I will have to send it back? thanks for any info

The problem may not be T-Mobile. With Blackberry Internet Service traffic between the internet and the wireless network is proxied by RIM's servers:

If you cannot use SSH than the block could be on either RIM's or T-Mobile's end. Talk to some people who use Windows Mobile devices and see if they can use SSH. If they can, then the block in on RIM's end.

In response to Wirefly yes you will have to send it back as they get a credit for selling and activating the phone if you don't they will get charged back and and wirefly will charge you back on your cc good luck on the other

definitely check out Idokorro. I have found that t-mobile is the most permissive of all the carriers when it comes to services and ports.

When making connections over BIS the only open ports are 80, 443 and everything above 1024. This applies to all wireless carriers. The default VNC port is 5900 so it works fine over BIS, the default SSH port is 22 which does not work over BIS, either you have have to set your SSH server to use a higher port or you have to use TCP.

For SSH the best option is to use direct TCP, simply contact your carrier and make sure you have the wap.voicetream.com access point on your account, more details can be found here:
