Question Strange E-mail from Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

hey everyone. I just recently switched from a 7105t to a 8700g. I use Gmail as my personal e-mail and over the last 2 or 3 hours I have received multiple, and by multiple I mean about 6 e-mails from a blackberry.net e-mail. I will copy and paste it below.

The Subject was: network
It included an attachment of ETP.DAT

This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry handheld and an associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server.

Is this spam? A virus? I havent opened the attachment at all. If anyone knows that would be great.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8800: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Hey buddy, you ain't the only one who has received that. I've gotten 3 of those messages today! At first I thought it was an email virus (I still do), so I just deleted them. I'm glad I'm not alone. If anybody can figure out what they mean let us know. Thanks!!

I am glad that I am not the only one. I have a feeling that this is then a new way to send spam email from a blackberry.net e-mail address. Since you are not with my carrier it seems like spam to me.

There is another thread here with a very similar problem.

The thread is old, but there are a few recent replies. You might find something helpful there.
