Hey im new to these forums but i am hoping someone can help me

i have a blackberry storm 2, and recently it has decided not to charge. i have replaced the battery and the wall charger, the usb charger does not work either, ive already had the micro usb jack replaced and reinstalled the os. however i know the phone work because i have tried a friends charged battery in it and it functions fine :s

also i noticed when i plugged the phone in with my friends battery the charging bolt appears briefly then goes away again, i checked and it was not actually adding any charge :(

is there anyone that could tell me what is wrong if so that would be a huge help :D

From the information given it sounds unfortunately like a charging circuit fault. If this is the case then you will need a new phone.

You have already tried all of the things you could have to possibly resolve the problem which still persists meaning that the only thing left that can be the problem is the phone.

Just to fully confirm that it is not a battery issue; try your battery in your friend's BB and check that it charges.

yes sorry i have already tried that , and the battery will charge in my friends phone

Hmmm on another thought , is it possible that some kind of external dx-1 battery charger exists ? if so would it cause any damage to the phone to keep pulling the battery out to charge it ?

If you would like to use that method that should work fine. Use a charger such as this one:
BLACKBERRY MINI EXTRA BATTERY CHARGER DX-1 STORM 2 9550 on eBay (end time 08-Jan-11 18:54:54 GMT)

They are available from amazon and numerous other retailers also.

I had a Storm with the same problem I took it back to Vodafone who told me it was a software problem, and they replaced it free of charge. Apparantly its happened to many Storms here in UK and was due to a OS upgrade?

Replaceing the OS or upgrading should help. The BB charging circuit is OS controlled. If you added any third party apps, one may have corrupted the function. OS and Desktop manager is free just make sure it's the OS for the phone. The carrier stores generally do not have a clue and replacement is easy for them.

Hey guys this might be a bit late but ....... i wiped my device and then installed the os again , now the charging icon does not disappear, but i dont think it is actually charging , also sometimes i press the screen and it freezes , forcing me to battery pull :s

anyone know whats up with this stupid phone ?
