Question Difference between 5820 and R900/1800G

Please Login to Remove!

Could anyone please tell me the differences between these two models? I can find a spec for the 5820 on the blackberry website but no trace of the latter. Thanks. I bought an R900/1800G which I'm struggling to get to work so wondered if the 5820 was materially different - they look similar on the outside.

Try looking up the information for model 5810. The 5820 is the same, it's simply an European version of the 5810, as I understand it.

I would suspect that the 900/1800 refers to the frequency of operation.

What trouble are you having? I bought one through ebay as well, and it wont go into coverage...bah

I think the R900 was the Euro version of the North American 957 which was a data/pager only BB whereas the 5820 is the same as the GSM BB 5810 Phone/Data BB?

My one has a phone option - though you admittedly have to select it when installing software update.

Anyone have any idea why one of these won't slect a network - it doesn't even do a net scan? Can the RF chips in these blow?
