Question Voice over Wifi on the 8820

Please Login to Remove!

Is anybody using it?

I live in a semi-remote location. I don't have cell signal from any carrier at my house. I am required to be on-call 24x7, but everybody tries my cell phone and stops there.

Does this model really do voice over Wifi, or just data services?

I've used Gizmo in the past to make VoIP calls over my 8820's WiFi radio, it worked great but I haven't kept up with it lately. The 8820 has UMA capability (cell provider VoIP technology) but I don't know if that needs a cell network to setup/teardown calls, and of course your provider would need to support it which few do at this time.
