Default Dropped in water

Please Login to Remove!

Unfortunately, I dropped my pearl(8100) in pool 3 days back. Immediately I removed my battery from the phone but did not dissemble it. I tried turn-on a day later after I dropped the phone, only Red LCD light and track ball (glowing in green) was responded. Nothing else did work.

Yesterday I tried turning on but screen turns on blank Grey color. Is that mean still can I believe my phone may work?

Any thoughts would appreciate it.

Thanks,

You should have tried to turn it on so soon. You may still have a chance. Keep the battery out and put it someplace warm (TV, or Monitor vents) and let it dry for another 3 days and then try. Here is a link:

I always put my soaked electronics under a hairdryer, or left it in my car on a hot day. Worked pretty well, but it doesnt sound completely fried so when you think its dry give it one or two more days, and try to turn back on.

OK, sounds like it got totally soaked, so you have nothing to lose. Pool water has a lot of chlorene which is not good. Go to the store and get a gallon of DISTILLED water, and a couple bottles of isopropyl alcohol, the high purity type.

Remove the back of the phone, keep the battery out, and re-soak the phone in the distilled water to rinse out any crap from the pool water. Once the pohone is reinsed well in the clean distilled water, then soak in the alcohol. The alcohol will get rid of the water. Soak and rinse in the alcohol a couple times, then all you will have in it is the alky. Alky dries fast and it dries clean. Put the phone in a warm area like near a heater or in a window so the sun can shine on it. Don't let it get too hot like keep it under 110 degrees F or so, that won't hurt it. Let it dry for 3 or 4 days. Then pop the battery back in and see what happens. Best luck.

OK, I'm such an dork. I dropped my blackberry in the bathtub (luckily just water, no soap)! I immediately removed the batter and tried to remove as much water as I could. Then I propped it up against a fan for a few hours and put it under a heater for another hour. I tried it today -- a little buggy, at first, so I removed the batter and put it back in again. Seems to be working fine...fingers crossed.
