The "alt" insignia is showing in the upper right hand corner of by blackberry. And now, keyboard is all messed up. I can't login, as my password comes up as the symbols or numbers.

Any suggestions

Press the alt key on your BB and it should go away. If not, a battery pull will surely correct the problem.

That helps temporarily but the darn thing keeps coming on. Off and on, off and on.

Did you drop your BlackBerry or get it wet? Sounds like it's suffered some kind of internal damage.

May be too late if moisture is the cause. I'm with rambo based on post #3. May be faulty keypad. Or maybe moisture. Try removing battery and drying device.
