Default GPS location

I have been looking at the blackberry manual and it says to find your GPS location, go to options, advanced options, gps, then click the menu key and press refresh to get your GPS location. When I click the menu key, there is no option thats says refresh. Any ideas?

Not on a CDMA device. Instead, set your Location ON, in that menu.

Then find yourself in BlackBerry Maps.

Unless you're outdoors. Then you can (sometimes) get a better lock on a satellite and more accurate results.

Google Maps on Storm just estimates based on cell towers, unless I missed something and they updated it.

Nope that is right BBMaps, however, uses the full GPS functionality.

fyi: google maps cant use satellites on the storm. only cell tower triangulation currently. thats why you never get very close to your true location.

Is this because the GPS is "locked" excpet for BB Maps?

Google maps runs fine...crappy location probably due to they are not using GPS only triangulation.

I have tried some 3rd party apps and they can't seem to tap into the GPS signal either.

I am looking for an app which will create and store a GPS track that I can export as a GPX file for later use. Any way to do that in BB Maps?

Lightbulb GPS Position

GPS maps is useless for position. 2500 to 3900 meters is not really a position, it is more like saying what state you are in.

I have spent some time comparing BBMaps and VZNAv. To my surprise, there is a significant difference in accuracy. I have conducted these tests while parked in my car, so movement is not a consideration. I have found that under these conditions, VZNav is correct to within a coupe of meters (one to two car lengths at most), while BB Maps is only good to 50 or 100 feet.

I have also compared the moving map modes. Again, VZNav is extremely accurate while BBMaps is 30 to 50 meters off.

One would think that since both programs use the same chip the position produced would be the same. My experience says it is not. 73

That's weird because Trapster (FREE) uses actual GPS on our devices. I wish Trapster and Google Maps would merge =[
