Apologies in advance is this has been covered a few times, but time is tight so I can't search the forum at present.
Essentially, I connected my 9500 to my PC to upload some music files. I had a window pop up saying there were updates ready for my phone, so I clicked install and left it to it. I came back about 10 minutes later as I was on my way out (and supposed to be out of the house over an hour ago!) to find the device manager showing the message 'A fatal error has occurred etc etc etc' As such, my BB shows the message in the title with a little icon.
From what I can make out, there is no OS on the phone but the device manager doesn't recognise that it is connected, so I cannot install my most recent back up.
I would be so grateful if someone has a fix for this as I have so much information within the phone that I really need to access - not to mention I can't contact anyone.
Just reinstall the OS in DM. If it's not allowing it, then use loader.exe in the Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader directory. After the phone comes back up, you can restore.
I would recommend not reloading more than messages, contacts and browser bookmarks/history in case there's a conflict hosing your Storm.
I followed those instructions, but the C: Prompt says it cannot find the path specified. I tried another route from the BB website that takes me through the temp folder settings, but the folder I'm supposed to open doesn't exist in there.
