I see that AT&T has a package version different than the latest Rogers release - anyone know what the differences are?

Lower Applications version than Rogers, so it isn't really anything new or special.

I'm going to download it though and see if it has the missing themes for the CDMA 8830's.

It would appear that what you pickup is a "AT&T" theme instead of the old cingular theme - that's it

Odds are the CDMA themes are only in 4.2.2 packages. They could show up later, but since the 8830 is a 4.2.2 device it's unlikely they'll be in 4.2.1

That's in the Rogers package too.

I think I may go ahead and download this update. The platform version is higher the Rogers whatever that means.

I just upgraded to the new AT&T 8800 OS, only difference I see so far is that the theme has 3 rows instead of the 2 ribbon rows that were on the theme in the Rogers software release.

Yeah, and I've noticed that a lot of the custom themes made by various users do show three rows as opposed to two, now, as well. If you want a nice theme to test, try Mikami's Vista Theme (OTA download - click!) with both OS versions, and you'll notice the difference.

In addition, Opera Mini works with this OS release, thank goodness. ^_^

Hello,

I tried to install this new O.S., deleted the vendor.xml file and started up D.M. and plugged in my 8800 with the Rogers latest O.S.

The application loader says all of the files are older than the Rogers ones.

My "About" screen says 4.2.1.90 (Platform 2.30.72).

This device is only a week old, problems already?

I also have the latest desktop manager 4.2SP2.

Ideas and help much appreciated!

I am a new member of this group , and a returning Black Berry user. I spent the last two years struggling to make a samsung i730 work like a BB and finally realized that I just need to come back! I have looked for this update on teh cingular web site, but it keeps pushing me to the old software. Can anyone point me to where this is?

Justin I went to it, but when I clicked on the cingular link it took me back to the "Applications: 4.2.1.72 " download, not the 4.2.1.79 referenced here. What am i missing?

I installed it yesterday. Only odd thing is on BES it still shows me at 4.2.1.74 platform 2.3.0.54. On my BB it is 4.2.1.79 platform 2.3.0.74. Maybe in reality it is the same version except for the ATT theme.

hmm. maybe just give it some time to "re-inventory". my BES has me reporting back as 4.2.1.79 & 2.3.0.74

I downloaded and installed this version. I was running Rogers prior. TeleNav 5.1 would NOT run on this version. I installed it 2X...and nothing. All I got was Java exception errors. I reinstalled the Rogers OS and it worked fine.
