Default Gmail Imap Vs Gmail App

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BB Storm and have decided to drop my exchange hosting for gmail.
I have downloaded and installed the Gmail application, and I also had setup a mailbox on the BIS for Gmail with IMAP.

Two things I noticed. When I receive email, the email box (bis w/imap) sees the email right a way, but the gmail app does not, and I have to select refresh in the application to update my in box, is this how the app is sopossed to work

if you go here Google Mobile | Gmail for your phone it reads this

Message autorefresh. Gmail shows new messages in your inbox without you having to refresh the browser.

So now, I'm trying to decide what to do, keep the gmail app, or dump it for just the regular BIS with IMAP.

What are you guys using/doing with gmail.

I have my email going threw the BB, and I keep the Gmail app incase I have to look threw some really old email.. The Gmail app offers alot more functionality if you need/use it.

UPDATE

Gmail application received NEW mail notification 10mins after receiving email.
Thats a long time to wait for notification when you compaire it to IMAP.

I think the GMail app has a refresh time, while the BB is true push, so it does make sense.
