Yes, it pretty much depends on your approach. Both CaptureIt and ZonaSnap are utilities on your phone that can capture screenshots. BBScreenShooter is a PC utility - in order for it to work, your phone must be connected to your computer.

I guess that's why Mr Baskins and Mr Robbins sell 31 flavors ;)

Another vote for CaptureIt. You can then download the screenshot to PhotoBucket and then post it in this forum.

I just downloaded Capture It on my 9700 (531). However when I take a shot all I get is an all-white image in my pictures folder. Appreciate any advice.

capture it works fine on my 9700. all i have to do whichever screen i want to capture..just hit bb menu key and scroll to capture it

It is easier to set up the right-side convenience key using the "Screen/Keyboard" under "Options".

As usual, I trust RIM's own tool. Download RIM's JDE. Under the bin folder, there is a program javaloader. Connect your BB with your computer. From computer, run javaloader -u screenshot aaa.bmp. You screenshot will be saved in file aaa.bmp

CaptureIt saves the image as a jpg file to make it easy to post on websites.

and ON the device, not on the PC. There are times I need the screencap on the road, no where near a PC... sorta what the term "mobile" and "smartphone" means...

Sounds like a special need. Technically I think it is possible. But I wonder if there is any application for this because there is probably little demand for this.

There are a number of on-device screen cap applications.
