First thing to do is get a MicroSD memory card and put that in the BB. Then the card can act like a thumb drive when connected via USB.

Um, most likely an mp3 is larger than 2.86MB and you can't save anything bigger than that on the BB without a media card...A 2Gb card is less than $20 at most stores and even cheaper if you buy online.

Media card is the only option. If you can find a PC, you can load Desktop Manager/Media Manager and use that.

Sorry, he said ringtone, I was thinking around 500kb max.

Yeah, media card is what you need.

Yeah, it says "mp3 song...and set it as a ringtone." I'm just assuming here. But, alas, the OP doesn't have a data plan so the media card is, as you say, what he/she needs.

Yep, I see that. We both took what he/she said two different ways. I think you might be right though, now that I re-read it.

I just got my 2gb memory card from Overstock.com: Online Shopping - Bedding, Furniture, Electronics, Jewelry, Clothing & more as part of a 2 pack. It was pretty cheap, don't remember how much.

You need a memory card, not a SIM card. The SIM is what makes the phone work on the Rogers network. The only thing that can be saved to it is phone numbers.

When you get your memory card and it get it in your phone, connect the phone to your Mac with the USB cable. It should ask you if you want to switch to Mass Storage Mode. Select Yes. Then, your phone should show up as an external drive on your Mac. Double click on that drive, select the Blackberry folder, drop your ringtone into the ringtones folder and your picture into the picture folder.

I connected the pearl to my mac using the usb cord, and then the bb said there wasnt enough power from the usb drive to charge it... and it never registered as a data device or anything like when you put a sd card into the computer, like a drive icon pops up, it didnt do that when i pluged the black berry in.... any ideas

who would have guessed it would be so complicated

THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HAVE HELPED SO FAR! MUCH APPRECIATED

You're missing the cover. The video is correct, there's little metal hinged thing that locks the memory card in place, and yours is missing. Without that, I don't think your memory card will stay in place.

Perhaps you could use this service?

Myxer - just add the www & the .com

I'd post the actual link but it won't let me because I don't have enough posts yet on the forum.

I use it all the time to create my ring tones from my mp3s. You can also upload images & have them sent to your phone. The service is free, but you will get charged for the text message (they send you a link to download the content) and the internet connection fee. You might want to contact your carrier to find our what those charges would be.

HTH!
