Default Odd battery drain

Please Login to Remove!

So I've had my 8700g for a couple months now as many of you know and I was getting exceptional battery life even with moderate to heavy use. But now it seems after only a day it's down by more than a 1/4 to a 1/2 which just doesn't seem normal to what it used to be. I've tried cycling the battery. Wear and tear on the battery or any ideas? I mean hell now that I hate carrying 2 devices I barely even use it and after a day it's down a 1/4 to 1/2

Batteries do take some wear and tear and data devices seem to be especially hard on them, dunno why.

I would suggest just picking up another battery or a car charger.

I have both but if i had to have one or the other i would take the backup battery. I keep it in my glovebox, cuz usually wherever i am, my car is!

I have a bunch of users who recently upgraded to an 8700 and heard a lot of complaints just like this.. Takes a day or less to drain the battery on a 8700, doesn't appear to be fully charging after that.

My battery in my 8700c just started draining in a day.(It did last 3 or 4 days!!) SO I am in the process of draining the battery DEAD and recharging and then see where I need to go....Maybe I need a larger battery? My device does get alot of use....

I just went to the Cingular store and asked about a new battery and they offered me a new one. Maybe I did get a bad one?

I just heard about some viruses effecting cell phones, including one that drains the battery. It would just hide in the background and deplete the battery.

Oh man!! To top it all off..I heard that electron flow can also drain a battery pretty darn quick. Coupled with this virus rumour..we could be looking at the end of our battery's lives as we know them.

Must be the end times...

Have you loaded any new apps on the BB? I loaded BBToday and the battery life dropped significantly. I know there are settings that can be adjusted to control the polling out for updates to weather, etc. Since I really did not use the app too much (and it was a trial), I removed it. My battery life went back to being great.

I had the same issue. All of a sudden I went from a day or two of battery life to 4 hours. Bought a new battery and the problem is gone. I am going to see about getting my original battery replaced.

Default excessive battery drain

If it helps anyone out, I had the same problem for 3-4 days (battery would drain nearly completely in a period of about 8hrs but I did a reset (removed battery) and when it started back up the battery life went back to normal, which for me is 3-4 days of regular use. Maybe this is an obvious thing that you already tried but I wasn't sure.

I have had no problems since.
