When you get past level 16, there must be a few levels where there are tricks to beating it.

I have been having alot of trouble with level 17 lately. I think level 22 has been really tough when i get to it....

From those expert player who claim to get a million points, post the strategies from level 17 on. I'm assuming at a million points, you would have looped the game many times so you should know the strategies and where to point paddle properly....

High to date is 12,500. Maybe 18 or 19 levels? I can consistently break 9,000, but have beat 10K only twice...once when I got 12,500 and then my previous high score.

I start level one by going for "life". If you scroll all the way left, then back u p one, you will hit the two eggs w/in two or three bounces. If no "life" I just start over.

On the level with the three diagonal rows, sometimes I can get the ball to slip between bricks and get trapped in the upper left enclosed area! Do this by clicking once to the right before release, then slide paddle all the way right and then back left two clicks. It doesn't always work.

Which brings me to the big unknown: I think that pressing the space bar when the ball hits the paddle or wall gives it a little nudge. "English" is what we called it in pinball back in the 70s. I use this to get out of infinite loops. It is also useful on the big "L" brick array (level 8? I have no idea). I think that when I apply some English on the last bounce before it enters to brick zone that I clear it on one shot more often than not.

It's also true that, despite releasing the ball the same way on the same level, I do not always get the same response on the first bounce; the ball will go slightly askew of where it typically goes. Anyone else see that?

And last, does moving the paddle while the ball hits it give some spin? Seems it makes ball go in different direction or speed than a static paddle.

I did not know about the variable, and high, scoring of the gun! Thanks for the tip!

My mate Adrian has a top score of 430,300. He had 123 lives and the only reason the game ended was because his girlfriend pressed new game by accident. Has anyone ever got close to that score?

I've been playing this damn game for over a year periodically and can't believe anyone can get over 100,000.....one would say this would be physically impossible......
My highest is 9725...respectable but obviously need more practise

I had a 7280 device running 3.7 for ages. I slowly learned all the tricks with lasers and guns and worked my way up to a high score of 7605. I was addicted to BB 3.7. A few months ago I finally relented and let my device get upgraded to 4.0 to get the IM client that works with MS LCS. I hoped to preserve 3.7 Brickbreaker, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I was forced to get use to 4.0 Brickbreaker. At first, I hated it...I longed for the precise nature of 3.7 (some of the bounces in 4.0 are freakish and unpredictable, but more on that later). But slowly I have come around. The first few times I played it, my scores were terrible, but eventually I worked my way up to 8,000, 9,000, and then to 9750. I was getting to a level in the mid teens (I don't remember the exact number). It was the one with the U shape of solid bricks that only guns can destroy. But I could get no further and could not improve my high score. Then yesterday, I managed to get past this level with one life and raised my high score to 10,650. And just this morning, I had a major breakthrough...All the way up to level 30 or 31. Some of these levels between 16-30 are loaded with bonus bricks, including lives. I think the programmers took it easy on us once we got past that U level I referred to earlier. But then I hit level 30 or 31...road block. Getting past this level will be extremely difficult. However, I shall not waiver from my quest to beat all 34 levels on 4.0. My high score on 4.0 is 16,235. Back to my comment about the freakish bounces with 4.0. At first they were a major turnoff, but now I'm ok with them. I sort of like the unpredictability...I think it weeds out the amature brickbreakers from the pros...LOL. Who knows...all I can say is I'm flat out addicted to this stupid little game. I enjoyed reading everyone elses posts...

Hey Isutrey...finally someone with a sensible reply with a realistic score to boot, I have since moved on to 1,023,264 with 352 lives....YEAH RIGHT!!
Managed to get to level 27 (I think with the one solitary brick hidden in the box of other unbreakable bricks)
High score of 13,335.... going for the full 34 levels

have any of you guys beaten this game? the highest I've been is like stage 23 or 24. It's funny, but after stage (14 i think it is? w/ the U shaped metal wall surrounding the bricks?) the stages get mad easy. only reason i quit the game because i was so happy i finally cracked 10,000 which i thought i'd never do.

My current high score is 924,000 with 115 lives. Ontoit level 27 is the level with only 1 block right? I may off by a level here guys but I think this is how they go.

Level 27- Only 1 block. Very easy.

Level 28-Get rid of blocks on right side. Also easy to pass. This level is a good opportunity to get a few more lives.

Level 29- This level can be a pain. Angle the ball as much as possible to get it above the barriers. If you can get a catch on this one keep it because it will help alot. Even if you can get a life dont because catch helps alot.

Level 30- Easy level. Only 3 blocks.

Level 31- This level can be difficult. There are 2 blocks on the top that you have to get. Here is how I pass it everytime. You need to get the level to drop as far as it goes and get your blocker thing all the way to the right off the level shooting the ball up through the left. You should see what im talking about once you get to it. Sometimes it will go up threw but not get the blocks. When it comes back down just do it again and you will eventually get it.

Level 32- You will have no problem passing this one.

Level 33- A bunch of random blocks on this one with cement barriers everywhere. The best thing to do is keep it as straight as possible. At the start of the level make sure you get the block farthest to the left or you will have trouble getting it once the level drops. Once you get the ball up above it usually cleans out most of the blocks.

Level 34- Very easy. Dont put to much angle on the ball or you will have trouble making it down the chute.

until reading this tread and hearing that there r quite a few people who beat the game multiple times. 9 times around and 151280 points and 52 lives currently don't seem to be that great after all

I'm seriously wondering if, after playing the game a few million times, if the software just gives up and considers itself conquered. Once this happens, I really don't see how the game could ever end.

***The software pretty much does give up. Once you get to around 1,300,000 the game starts to slow up and will kill you in the middle of play with the "TRY AGAIN!" message popping up. It starts to become more frequent and my game is just stuck on level 2. Everytime it hits the top of the screen it goes to "TRY AGAIN!" and makes it impossible for you or the game to advance to the next level.

...brought me right back to some of those early Nintendo games that just say "GAME OVER" after hours of play, except with even less closure. Whatever, I'm moving on from BrickBreaker for good now. I think I'll just stick to CirclePopper and the other downloadable games for Blackberry.
