ok so if you've had a mixed marriage.. then why do you say that it's ok for the judge to refuse to marry two people based on their race?

another example.
My cousin is an indian, born and raised in the USA, his wife is swiss. my neice has fortunately, never been subject to any form of 'racial' discrimination.. they live in cali, and recently adopted a chinese orphan. mixed family. my sister in law tells me that my neice has never felt out of place at her school, in fact, she proudly states that she has indian blood running through her, and more often than not, everyone asks her questions about her indian roots. its nice to see that kind of harmony.

Well, again, he's not within his rights. It is expressly illegal for him, as a city official, to discriminate based on race. He has been asked to resign his position.

Funny he was asked to resign and not fired. If it was so illegal why wasnt he fired?

Probably two reasons:

1. So that he could save a bit of face.

2. So the city could avoid the potential for an ugly lawsuit.

I would predict that if he fails to resign he will be fired.

I agree. It's a political maneuver. If he resigns then there's no possibility of either a lawsuit or him getting any unemployment money. In exchange for him leaving peaceably, he will probably be guaranteed a good job recommendation and/or another job with the local government there.

i wouldn't give him another job in the government given the kind of thinking and mentality he has.

And according to CNN, he's just resigned.
