Default PIN to PIN question

Hello everyone one of our execs brought up a question, I was not sure so the question is

1. If our BES server is down, is it possible to send PIN to PIN messages?
2. Do the PIN to PIN messages get logged?

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes.
2. Not by your BES.

PIN is purely independent of your BES and dependent on RIM and your wireless provider.

Someone, correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually, the only time they would get logged is in the backups of the device on BES. You would have to find the correct file, and it would only include those messages (sent or received) that were left on the device. If you deleted them from the device, it would wipe them in the next backup as well.

I'am guessing your referring to Bes version 4.x here, as you are not able to perform remote backups in vers 2.x for Domino.
