Default Verizon Upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

I'm currently on the Verizon network using a pearl. Want to upgrade to the Tour. I checked the other day and I'm able to get an upgrade right now, but the tour is still $199. Whats the reason for this? its the same price with an upgrade as it is with a new plan.

Right.
That's the subsidized price. What were you expecting?

I don't know, I thought there would be a little more of a discount since it would be an upgraded phone.

"Eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing.Your contract end date is 10/21/09"

$199 is the discounted price. The Tour retails for over $500.00.

That does seem high, The VZW store listed the Tour at $269.99. Minus the two year upgrade discount the phone was $169.99. Then there was a $70.00 mail in rebate. This made the final price of the tour on an upgrade $99.99. This IS what we paid at Best Buy for the phone, they price match and take the rebate off up front so you don't pay that amount out of pocket. I paid with tax $106.74 and walked out of the store with it.

Was that with a NEW plan or a renewal? I asked Best Buy if they would give the phone to me for 99 if I signed a 2 year contract (I am currently out of contract). They declined stating they aren't messing with the numbers on this device yet.

Renewal, that is where the first 100 came off the price. If they do this at your local VZW store, Best Buy advertises that they price match and give rebates instantly.

Hmmm, I will have to try that. When I asked (at two separate Best Buy's). They said the price was 169 for a renew Neither would budge on the price.

I am using Pearl right now and planning on upgrading to Tour.

From what I have seen, the going rate at both Bestbuy and Verizon Wireless website is $149 for 2-year contract. (Verizon Website - 2-year contract price: $299.99, Online Discount: $100, New-Every-Two: $50, $299.99 - $150 = $149.99)

Didn't New-Every-Two discount used to be $100?

Additional info: I just figured out that New-Every-Two is $100 if you have more minutes on your voice plan than I do. As usblues1965 indicated, New-Every-Two discount may be $100. They can put price of Tour at $99.

Wait, where did you see the rebate? I have a feeling the rebate may be over and that is why I wasn't seeing the price you got.

That price is only for NEW contracts and not for existing verizon customers. (at least that is what I've been told by 4 different best buy's within 75 miles of my location).

If this link works, this is the upgrade price http://tinyurl.com/kllsro

A couple of days ago I received in the mail my $70.00 refund, the seventy bucks I was forced to pay in the Verizon store which I would not have had to pay on line. The credit came by way of a Visa card with a $70.00 credit balance! Surely it would have been easier to issue a check and would have saved them the cost and trouble of having to make a credit card. WEIRD!

You have to go to the VZW store first. Best Buy price matches. If your VZW store will give you the 269.00 - 100.00 - 70.00 = 99. Then by policy Best Buy has to do it as well. They give the 70 up front not a mail in rebate like VZW so you pay 99 + tax and walk out. Tell the ppl at Besy Buy to call a local VZW store to confirm the price and by their police they have to match. I also took a sales flier the had ih large bold print the fact Best Buy price matches. That helped my cause. I told them what I could get the the phone for, at first they said no, I showed them the ad stating they price matched, they called VZW then matched it.

Most banks will let you deposit it into your checking account just like a check.

I prefer the Visa rebate card. I rarely have time to make it to the bank to cash a check. I have a few (small) checks that I never got around to depositing and they've long since expired.

Do you have a flyer still that shows the $70 rebate? I was told the price for the phone was $199 from vzw both in store on and the phone.

I bought mine in store at launch day cause I didn't want to wait for shipping. So I paid 269.99 in store cause I was due for upgrade and then had the 70 mail in. Which I am still waiting for. My wifes line is due for upgrade now and best price on their website is 199.99. So if bestbuy is doing it for 99 for people they are just due for upgrade they are getting boned and I say take advantage of it.

And this does specifically say its for a new account only not renewal. Think this is just bestbuys way of stealing business from the carriers.
