It's easy to forget that WiMax exists when there are as of yet no wimax phones available.

Nonetheless, the statement "There is no 4G network in the US, yet." is incorrect.

Verizon is going LTE. Very well known.

My local VZW technician (a tower/network guy who knows his s&^t) stated to me just last week that they want LTE in ALL major markets by the end of 2011 and want the entire VZW footprint done by late 2012 or early 2013.

Remember, VZW bought gobs of spectrum from the FCC a while back and they are ready to go. They have so much $$ to spend on network that I believe they will use this move to try and hammer on the competition. I don't know if the other carriers can build it out as fast.

Each technology has ups and downs. I think LTE wins for coverage, since the lower frequency that will get used in the US will have better long distance coverage and therefore require less sites, especially in more rural areas.

I guess we will see, won't we?

thats all very well.
but the point is, getting mobile phone manufacturers to make phones with the technology to access it.
currently there don't appear to be any.
