Hi all

I am new BB user (8320). I bought unlocked phone to use it abroad (Qatar). So far so good - love the features, syncs with my Mac perfectly, WiFi is great.

I've got only one problem - I have a habit of writing numbers for all my contacts in the address book to include the country dialing code - as I travel a lot, this way I don't have to worry about typing extra numbers when I am roaming. So - instead of writing 555-5555, I write it as +9745555555, if the contact is in Qatar, +447076666666 for UK numbers, etc.

My problem is that BB 8320 doesn't recognize the caller's name when I am in the country, and although the person is in my address book, it would only tell me that 555-5555 is calling, not the persons name. All my previous smartphones (SonyEriccsson P910, Treo 680) handled this without any problem, and were able to recognize the names of callers. Short of changing every person's number in my address book to local number only, is there a solution for this?

Welcome to BlackBerry Forums. This is a fairly common issue...

You must tell the BlackBerry what country you are in, and then all of the names will appear.

Try this:

Open the phone dialer program.
Click the menu button or trackwheel and select Options, then Smart Dialing

Make sure the correct Country Code is in the first field.

my friend please help, i am also facing the same issue of caller name not being displayed as the names with country code in contact list are not apprearing. I am in Saudi Arabia. As u said the problem is solved, please can you share with me how u solved the issue.

Go into the phone application, wheel click and go to Options, wheel click again. Go to Smart Dialing wheel click, and change your country code and select +66. Save and you should be good to go.
