Default Bold 9650 OS 6 thoughts?

Please Login to Remove!

Well it took me around 2 hours to get my device wiped / OS updated and reconfigured. I have everything back to how it was in OS 5. Overall a nice update and brings a little more life to my 9650 until the new models come out this spring / summer.

What I don't like that OS 6.1 fixes are these panes (Frequent / All / Favorites). They are just clunky on a non touch screen Blackberry and I prefer just one main screen and subfolders for App management.

I'd also love to find a way to disable the menu fade / transition effect as it seems to slow to the BB some.

I did a JL_Loader to blank the OS and loaded from scratch.

I agree. I dislike the horizontal scrolling and the limited option flexibility on the OS6 so I ended up going back to OS 5.

Not a fan of it myself. I put OS 6 on my wife's phone last night (I have the Tour). I can't put my finger on "why" I don't like it, but definitely not impressed. Maybe my expectations were too high. Then again, maybe it'll grow on me.

All I know is that while I'm eligible for an upgrade, it doesn't seem worth the cost of a new phone just to get OS 6 and a track pad (even though the roller ball on my Tour does still drive me nuts at times).

I also installed it last night. I kind of like it. I'm going to reserve final judgment on it for now. I'm leaning towards keeping it.

I've been using it for a while (first a beta, then an official version) on my Sprint 9650.

I agree that there are some quirks to it, but overall I like it.

I do NOT like the fact that if I scroll too far right or left on the icons it switched to another view (All, Media, Downloads, etc). On the Torch with OS6, you can only switch to another view if you have the view name bar (i.e., All) highlighted.

I'm liking it, but I would prefer the All/Favorites/Whatever selection tab to get lost and just be left with the all. The order takes care of the frequent/favorites well enough. I'd rather have the space free on the home screen.

Love the upgrade, hate the theme.

The panes will grow on you.

Supposedly in 6.1 the panes will be more customizable. If Frequent and Favorite were right next to each other I'd be golden.. (And if favorite icons would not be put under frequent.)

Trust me, I didn't have a problem with one screen but that's how the other phones work, iphone and android and RIM is following suit.

In my opinion I could have thought about a few things RIM could have changed besides that. But I can adapt.

I think I'll be jumping to a new theme before I'll get used to it. There's some new themes showing up now in the Themes section for OS6. Finally.

Thumbs down Re: Bold 9650 OS 6 thoughts?

OS6 just plain sucks... Too many bugs as far as I can tell. Can not access any of my prior themes that I had reloaded to my device during the update. Nothing but headaches with internet access. And the layout of the default theme sucks! If I wanted an Android phone, I would not have a Blackberry. It is no use to change the wallpaper image since the default layout takes up 4/5 of the whole screen!

Is anyone with a 9650 and Verizon OS 6.0 Bundle 1741 able to get the BB browser to save passwords?

Yes, I agree. My initial reaction when someone makes such a general negative content and then feels it is necessary to make it in large fonts is that I am immediately turned off and then I just ignore it totally.

No, Not one bit.
I think it is fact, considering the bugs and lack of support for OS6.

If the software was worth much and actually worked properly, then I doubt anyone would be upset. But when so many bugs need fixed and then there is a total lack of tech support and training for the tech depts at the carriers, don't you think that someone MAY actually be angry and upset over it?

Only a passivist shmuck would turn the cheek and pretend all was just a wonderful happy day!
