I sent Cingular business services an email asking them when the 7100g would be available and I received this response on January 19:
Thank you for contacting National Business Services. Regrettably, we
do not yet have an exact ETA on when the 7100g Blackberry PDA will
become available in our inventory. I am estimating that it will most likely
be within the next 30-45 days.
I just got off the phone with Cingular, and they had no reference to the 7100g, and I was told that the next model they will be getting is the 7290, slated for sometime in Q1 2005. I was looking forward to the 7100g, but unless they are keeping that ultra hush hush, it doesnt look like that will happen. Anyone have any other info?
Looks like the 7290 is available now as the current Cingular offering. Perhaps reps don't have updated information. Anyone have any detailed info on their coming devices?
I have been pining away on AT&T waiting for a 7100, and would gladly switch over to Cingular (if that's necessary after the transaction), so I loved seeing the posts about the impending 7100g. But then this official announcement comes and I'm beginning to wonder if the buzz was wrong?
Nothing about Cingular (although anyone could have taken their logo and pasted it on one of these very detailed shots. We probably use about 200 Blackberrys in our company and I have already asked our head purchasing guy to check with Cingular/AT&T directly to get the scoop. :D
...or, what was the price quoted??? The 7100g should only be about $200 where the other models run almost twice as much (go figure...stupid companies paying a premium RIM knows it won't get from everyday cell phone users).
