Default How to send suggestions to RIM?

Please Login to Remove!

A while ago someone posted a RIM email address or website where suggestions and/or enhancement requests could be sent. I tried searching for it but didn't have any luck. Anyone know this?

For what it's worth, I sent an email on two separate occassions with a question/suggestion, and never received a response. Not sure if that's indicator of poor customer service or if my emails just slipped through the cracks. Either way, I was a little disappointed.

It's just a suggestions mailbox. I don't think they respond to each and every suggestion.

I've never received a response either; I bet they get a thousand a week and just don't respond to any of them. From what I know of the tech industry, unless it's a major client asking for the feature (which equates to engineering dollars) which a company *knows* it will recoup it's investment on, the feature request goes to the bottom of the pile.

(or of course mass momentum as we see happening in modern times with blogs et al., a newer phenomenon)

It's a suggestion box. You shouldn't expect a response.

RIM doesn't provide end user support via email for free. You need to purchase a T-Support agreement, then they'll answer your questions.

The sad part is if you call up TSupport, and they determine that the capabilty you are seekin does not yet exist, the techs most of the time (In my experience) just test you to email the suggestion to bbsuggestions.@rim.net . I send them notes all of the time. I can't tell if it does any good. Some of the features I've asked for have materialized, but it's probably just coincidence (either that or enough people with enough $$$ complained). *shugs*

Penguin's right though. You do get pretty good answers from TSupport.

Thanks for the replies. I don't expect a response from RIM, but there are a few things that I'd like to see enhanced. Maybe if they hear the same thing from enough people, they'll do something about it.

I was told by my wifes IT BES guy that the way they do it is they write it on a piece of paper; then put the paper in a cup and burn it. Strange, but then that BES guy is strange himself!

I submitted a suggestion once. They sent me a reply that they were taking all suggestions from that day and picking a random name to win a car. I won!!

Or not.

They do look at the suggestions submitted by everyone. If they see anough requests they will make the change. But it TSupport questions usually get priority as they do pay the most money, especially when they are the Pentagon or NASA for example, those guys pay huge bucks for support. It sucks that not all suggestions can be handled but they don't have the developers to do all the work.

I have seen changes made though. They removed the access to the Address Book while the BB was locked in version 4.1. I think as it was a security issue but it was put back after high demand for that feature was requested.

The changes aren't always fast but they are taken into consideration. You aren't being ignored. RIM prides itself on customer satisfaction, beleive me I know after working there. They constantly try to improve the way they deliver support to make the customers happy.

It is sent to mailboxes at RIM, but it is impossible to tell if it will ever be looked at, unless they actually respond, which I don't think they are supposed to.
