Long delays may be experienced when performing a new install or when applying the maintenance release patches to the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server 5.0.2 and 5.0 SP3. The delay that can occur makes the installer appear frozen and when checking the Windows® Task Manager, the application may indicate a status of
Not Responding.
The patch installer is trying to perform a UserBind to every domain controller present. The installer is also trying to initialize each BlackBerry Enterprise Server service component, whether the component is installed locally or remotely. This can cause extreme delays in large environments, or if the install is occurring in a segregated environment such as a DMZ and resemble a frozen application.
