Default new BB pearl monitor not as bright?

Please Login to Remove!

my first pearl was dropped and experienced some serious injuries, so i used the insurance i had on it and ordered another one.

my replacement (new) BB pearl came today and the monitor brightness isn't as bright as my original pearl. I double checked the options and it says that it's set at 100 brightness.

what gives? it's fully charged. has anyone heard of the newer pearls not having as bright a monitor?

It is auto dim and it is designed to work so that your LCD display will illuminate when in dark areas or outside in overcast conditions.

I thought it was the other way around. mine dims when it is in darker areas. and gets brighter when it is in brighter surroundings. try holding it next to a light bulb to test.

This is normal the lighting in Aeroplane ****pit instruments works in the same manner.

If the surroundings are light the display must be bright so you can see it. If it is dark the display does not need to be bright becasue your eyes do not need the extra light, infact it would dazzzzel them.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Have you tested it in various lighting situations to see if it is just the light sensor?

Seems like your first Pearl had the OS with out the autodim feature. The new one you got has the OS upgrades since then.
