My question is, what are the requirements to run google maps mobile in my black berry 8520

Erm...the 8520 doesnt have GPS, so thats one thing it'll never use.

Yup. Gotta have some way of using a GPS. You could always buy one that works off of bluetooth and use an external one. There are several of these types of gadgets available that work just fine with a GPS-less blackberry.

You can use Googlemaps without gps, it uses the cell towers to find you. It is off by quite a bit, but it gives you a general idea of the area.

That is right - its the 8530 that has GPS.

It isn't off by that much, it's in the right State

My 8310 does ok, each version of GM seems to get better or the cell service is better. Currently running GM3.2.1 on on 8310 v4.5.0.182 if that matters.

Generally cell tower data only will locate you with in 1700 to 2500 meters. GPS is accurate to about than 10 meters most of the time.

Ahh, mine has never been more than 1400 meters, and it's usually around the 600-800 range, so I do find it useful. Might also be the area as well.
