For reals, and even then, they were pretty captivating.

It would cool to have all the versions on display, kind of like a retrospective at-a-glance look at the past models all the way up to today's cutting edge versions.

That would be awesome, I wouldnt mind searching eBay for broken ones just to have as hardware paper weight and display them in a timeline like I do with my Madden (the football game) game jewel cases...

Let me know JS, because I'd like to see how my unlocked 8700c would handle 4.5.x.

Here is a pic of some of the devices I have. Missing is my old 8700 because I donated it to a client. I will do another shot when I can get a hold of one to "complete" the timeline. There are some not shown because they are externally basically indistinguishable from the ones you see.

I keep heading into the AT&T store to try out the latest from RIM and nothing I have seen or tried has tempted me to "upgrade?" from my 8700. It has never failed me and has gone through numerous drops. I'm thinking that the Bold may finally get me to change, but we'll see.

I loved my 8700. I love 8310 more so. The 8700 is a great sturdy device, but the 8310 is sturdy with great features, IMO.

To be honest with you. I went from the 8700 to the 8100 to the curve to the 8800 and back to the 8700. I rather have the 8700 over the rest.

Default My $.02

I have two BB's, 8703e for my wife and the 8130 for myself. I bought the pearl in December and have had to replace it four times since then (I currently am waiting for the fourth to come in the mail now...) but I bought hers on ebay about two months ago and it's been working great. I like her phone alot but since I started on the trackball, I really have a problem with the thumb wheel when it comes to internet usage. For emailing and messaging hers is the better of the phones to use, hands down, but since I also use a lot of internet time on mine not being able to move around the screen freely is very limiting.

Since I am expecting to encounter more problems with the new pearl that is coming my way, I am going to demand that Verizon send me either a curve or an 8830 as I am hearing really great things from people about both phones. If they fail to come through, I am going to have them refund my money that I've spent and then use it to buy another 8703e from ebay.

I have to agree though that, as far as the pearl is concerned, it really is more of a fashion piece than it is a business one. I've kicked myself everyday that I didn't shell out the $50 for a 8830, when I got my Pearl. As I came from an extremely useless Motorola Q, the pearl was a god send, but as always I am learning that god has a sense of humor!!
