Squeaky keys has been a problem on the Pearl since day one. The keypad just gets too close to the surrounding plastic. It's a little annoying but I've learned to just live with it. It's funny....Some days they squeak and other days they are just fine.

does anyone else have a black pearl and the green answer key squeaks? on my old pearl (white one) the zero key was the only key that squeaked.

please let me know.

also, is there any way to stop it from squeaking?

thanks,

Well, I can't find the post in the thread I remember seeing, but one guy cleared this problem up by cleaning the rubber pad upon disassembly ! Finger jam and whatnot gets in there and "squeaks". Check the sticky on disassembly....if you're a brave one that is ! hahaha! Mine's starting to squeak as well (*, Space, #) I'm exchanging knowing glances with my pearl as I type this.

i have a black pearl and my green answer key squeaks all the time. i have tmo and my sister has a cingular one and her's doesn't. her phone is so much more solidly built than mine; her trackball doesn't feel loose like mine, my battery cover doesn't latch properly and always slides off, and my mute button is wonky. but i still love my wonky bb!!

Sometimes my keys squeak.

It doesn't bother me one bit. It's due to the fact that the keys have a "lacquor" feel to it, which when pressed in a certain angle it rubs against the key next to it and makes a sound.

I like the fact that it squeaks - it means the keys are still fairly new. Over time the lacquor will wear off and they will no longer squeak. As all things the keys will wear down.

If this bothers you a lot I guess you'll find a way to accelerate the wear and make it stop squeaking.

I've got a lot more (non Blackberry) issues to deal with than this tiny thing that doesn't affect functionality one bit.
