Hi all. I just got a Bold a few days ago. BB #4 for me. I've been on the iPhone Kool Aid for almost 2 years. It's just awesome to be back on a device that works perfectly and that you can actually conduct business on.

Anyway... I'm having trouble getting audible alerts to work with BB Messenger. Is there a way to get my Bold to play an alert sound when I get a BB Messenger message?

Make sure that the Volume option within the profile is not set to MUTE. Even though you have set a Tone, you need to unmute the volume.

Yeah... The profile is set to normal. When I get calls the phone rings. When I get SMS and MMS the phone beeps. Just no sound for BBMessenger messages.

Ok, lets make sure we're on the same page. You're going into "profiles" and then clicking on advanced, edit, and the "profile" you want to change, and then clicking on BB Messenger alert? Then setting it to "tone", choosing the ring tone, and then volume something other than "mute"?

Number of beeps should also be set to at least 1 and you should set this up in both the the BlackBerry Messenger Alert and BlackBerry Messenger New Message.

mine has to be set to "Available" to beep when I receive a BB message through BB messenger. But my friend's bold beeps even if his status is "Unavailable"

Oh yeah!!!!! I found it. It was hard to find though. I went to profiles>advanced>Edit- then I got the option to change the alert tones for everything! Messenger, SMS, MMS, Facebook, Twitter etc...

...And I kind of follow what kirrinjones was saying a few posts earlier. The volume was set to mute for Messenger. It wasn't the easiest thing to find and edit though...
