I was wondering if people wouldn't mind shedding some light on what I can do.
I used to have a Curve 8900 with Rogers on BIS for my personal phone. I have switched to an iPhone 3GS.
Since then, work has provided me with a Curve 8310 on our BES.
All I want to do is restore all my PERSONAL contacts from my 8900 and dump them onto my "new" Curve 8310.
All my contacts are still on Outlook, and in addition to that, I still have the backups from my 8900 (.ipd files). I have tried to manually reload the contacts in through the "Advanced" option in the Backup/Restore options. It says that they are "read-only and cannot be restored or deleted".
I have also tried just syncing directly with Outlook, but I get an "Unknown Error Occured" message.
Can anyone take a shot at how I can get the contacts from my computer back to my new 8310? Could it be that my BES is blocking syncing?
You really need to talk to your BES Admin about what is allowed and what isn't allowed. I always advise not to put any personal data on a device connected to the company BES. And always assume they can track anything they wish, evern though they can't and most don't bother anyway.
Messing with a device on BES and trying to circumvent the rules and security can be a means to go find another job.
