Hi all

Just won a bidding war on eBay. A shiny new 8900 curve is on it's at to me!

It's nice to be back! Just a quick question; is the bb now doing HTML email?

Care to elaborate? I believe the OP is the only one that can make that judgment.

OP, yes you will have HTML email. Search around the forums and BlackBerry FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ for lots of useful information.

I don't care what you say, I've lived with it. To have push, you need to carry a charger. The app store is great, maps are pretty good, although my gps started to get a little dim-witted after 2.2.1 upgrade. Maybe a coincidence.

So, yes, the iPhone is a great entertainment device, but my needs have changed.

The curve will be perfect. I've had many blackberries before, and they are ideal for my situation.

Well, it's here.

I've got to say, they don't build em like they used to!

Battery cover is a disgrace, sticking out on one side. Trackball feels a little loose too - maybe I just need to get back into it.

I am just trying to get O2 here in the UK to send over all the service books etc as I can't seem to get google sync, google app, or wi-fi to work.

Makes calls nicely though!

I suggest using tape to keep your battery cover down, or buying a new battery cover. It is a build issue, that doesn't seem to be fixed. I love my 8900, and I can't imagine ever having an Iphone, and I am not someone who needs to the reliability of a BlackBerry, I just love them.

Wow!

O2 here in the UK are pants!

Can't put the blackberry bolt-on on the phone until 13th June!

It's missing a few things I've seen on other people's devices; BBmaps, MMS etc

I can also download google maps, mail etc, but it won't actually let me use them.......

Can anyone tell me if they think all this will work when the bolt on is activated?

stuff like MMS, maps and some other stuff will be pushed to you when your data activates. At least that's how Rogers does it.

Hi all

UPDATE

Well, as one kind poster suggested, the device came alive when the BB service was bolted to the Curve.

All is well, except for one niggle:

1: I have set up one of my Gmail addresses, but while it's showing the mailbox, it's not receiving mail. My Yahoo account is working fine and the icon has changed to a Ymail icon. Gmail is still as standard.
The gmail app (downloaded from google) picks up mail fine, but the BB push service seems not to work.

I have checked the settings on the gmail account, and both IMAP and POP checkboxes are checked.

What are everyone elses settings?
Should my icon have changed yet?

I bet they don't...

I wouldn't exactly call the 8900 the most reliable phone on the planet... nor does it fit my entertainment needs at ALL. Video playback is extreme taxing on the battery and lags... not to mention searching through a video sucks and the media player frequently breaks down...

BIS is not always 100% reliable but of course, push email is amazing when it works that 95% of the time!

MAKE SURE YOU GET THE LATEST OS FOR YOUR 8900 it'll make a difference!
