Default BES Policy

If you are connected to a BES 4.1 or higher, instead of maiming your BB you could just have the camera disabled. With BES policies you can limit the user to just about anything. Just a thought.

That solution works great for your own company, but there are many companies that do not allow the phone if it has a camera built into it, regardless of if it works or not. I have some clients that have this policy so I switch my sim back to my 8700 when I go to meet with them.

Alright, while I was trying to pull off the bottom cover in step 3 I think I damaged the green/metal/tapish thing beneath it (First seen on the left of the screen in Step4, TopRight of Step5, and gone by Step6). It has a small tear from where my pry tool was levering... It looks like it might be important, but then again it looks like it might just be fancy tape. Can anyone tell me if I just ruined my Pearl?

Thanks,
Bob

That would be the antenna (the green tape). Assuming you didn't totally mangle it, or cut it in half, you should be OK. I bent mine a little while prying off the bottom piece. Actually, the internal clip of the bottom piece caught on the edge of the antenna and ripped / bent it ever so slightly. There really should be a warning on that FAQ about the antenna being RIGHT UNDER the bottom piece.

Default Instead of mutilating your Pearl

Why not just get a case cover that "hides" the camera... 90% of people believe that Blackberries lack cameras...

Does Sendio have anything like that?

Just finished doing the mod.

Easy as pie...took about 6 minutes from disassembly to assembly.

I believe Seidio was considering making a back that hides the camera feature.

I am having a little trouble getting the bottom piece off to get to the screws. Any suggestions on how to get it off without breaking it? Thanks for your help, feel free to pm me with any suggestions.

Dog bit the screen upper left. Camera still working, phone works, menus work (from what I can see).

Where can I get it fixed or just get a replacement screen to DIY?

Thanks.
