Default Unspecified message error on internal mails

Please Login to Remove!

I have a user that can send to an external address, but not inside the domain. He gets Unlisted Message Error. We tried resending the service book, regenerating the encryption key, and taking the battery out. We deleted him from the bes completely, removing BES info from his mailbox, wiped his unit then reactivated.

He gets the same issue. He does have send as rights (and was able to send an email to a gmail account), but replying or new message inside our domain fails.

He has an AT&T 8300 running 4.2.2.89.

4.1.4.16 is our BES, and have Exchange 2003 SP2.

No other users have reported this issue, and I was able to send an internal message on my 8830. He was able to send internal mail yesterday. He gets new incoming mail fine.

Just got another report, same issue. The user that just reported the issue is on a different PO, same carrier, AT&T. I have had several other AT&T users send me mail from their Blackberry and it came fine, even users on the same PO as a user that is not working.

I don't think thats it. If the wrong System Manager was installed, would that only affect two users and only internal mail? Other users on the same exchange server were fine. They worked one day, not the next and apparently now are working again. Exchange hasn't been updated. I checked the system manager on BES, and it reports 6.5.7638.1. Our Exchange is 2003 SP2 so that looks fine.

most likely now is that the permissions are off.

check AD and open up the affected user, tab security and see if the BESAdmin user is in there.
It should have the "send as"checked as allow on user objects.
futhermore you could check if the affected user is member of an admin group.

They had SendAs, and they are not admins. I know what happens on Admin accounts, we ran into that a few years ago I think. Besides, they could send an e-mail to a gmail account but not one to inside the domain. They started working again without us doing anything.

Ok, so now I have a user (on AT&T) that could not send a message on her Blackberry to someone internally, but could send a message to me internally. I emailed the user she was trying to email fine from my Verizon Blackberry.

I've tried to call RIM, but didn't get through before I had to leave the call. I sent an e-mail with the issue last night and still have no response, though I have level 2 TSupport.

I think I have gotten it figured out after several calls to TSupport. In case anyone has this issue in the future, this is the fix that worked for me. It was a odd issue, as it didn't affect everyone, and those it did affect, only prevented them from sending mail to particular people.

The tech first had me go into Blackberry Server Configuration and redo the MAPI profile. He then had me export then delete the entire key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles. I went back into Server Configuration and went through the Change Database wizard (this will stop the BES services.) Once everything was back up, the user could send to accounts that they previously couldn't.
