Default IT Policy for Backlight?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone,

Is it possible to control backlight strength and timeout through a policy? I looked throught the BES and didn't see anything, but thought I would run it by you folks.

Thanks for any help.

Not possible.
Cool idea though... for backlight brightness, backlight timeout and auto dim backlight.

Not sure I would agree. How does anyone other than the device user know how bright the screen needs to be and for how long. This is a end user option that I hope they never add to the ability to control with IT Policy.

Well, some IT groups think they know best when to enable a desktop screensaver or put it in sleep mode, so why not? With the way the 'green' initiatives are going, I'd say we'd have that option in the next year with the BlackBerry. LOL!

Anyhow, I think this would be suited for standardization of devices in a pre-deployment configuration ...for now, this can be done only prior to initial deployment with a standard backup IPD file.

But a screensaver or sleep mode is a completely different situation. Neither of those actually effect the ability of the user to view the screen clearly. And both can be quickly disabled by the wiggle of the mouse or password.
