Default HELP PLEASE-Storm wont turn on

Please Login to Remove!

Hi GUys,

This is my first post. I have had my Storm for just about a year.

It now wont turn on. When I plug in the charger the red light turns on however the screen remains black. Is there anything I can do as I really need to get data etc off of the phone!?

Thanks in advance

If your BlackBerry stays powered off with a black screen, follow the instructions below. The only indication of life might be the blinking red LED light in the top corner. Nothing seems to wake it up and Desktop Manager doesn't recognize any device is connected.

1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop Software - BlackBerry Software at BlackBerry.com
2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):

"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm

3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.

NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

ham, your post here is off topic for this thread.

You will need to purchase an unlocking code from an unlock vendor.

Hi JSanders,

I have the same issue as Keith. I have a storm 9530 (verizon), i have installed the DM 5.0, I have the start, run, then paste your "line" but it tells me that it refers to a location that is unavailable.

If you could help, i would highly appreciate it. I will keep trying to fix it while you answer....

Cheers!

JSanders,

I was able to find Loader.exe but it was a bit different: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

When I do the next step:

3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."

Good so far, how ever on step 4, USB"USB-PIN: UNKNOWN" doesnt appear. As my Laptop still doesnt recognize the Storm.

4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.

Thanks!

Sometimes pulling the battery while DM is running and the BB is connected to your pc can help get it recognized. Worth a shot!

Why do people post in someone elses thread even aftersomeone else told them to make thier own?

Thank you, I am now at work. I will try this afternoon. Just a quick inquirie before I take a look.

Will this methods work when my Storm is totally death (except the red blinking light when I charge it or conect it to the USB), Ive read some solutions that require some activity while the storm is on... which will be impossible for me. As it wont turn on.

Thank God for folks like you!

Thank you!

Because the issue is exactly the same, and we can see more feedback from the previous posts.

Makes sense, no?

Do you have any ideas?

Cheers!

i have same problem with black screen and red light on. When i get to the "wait for device initialization", "reconnecting JVM", the connection gets dropped by my phone. I keep working in circles.

when the phone is plugged in and i am not trying to mess with it, it recognized the phone and pin, but as soon as i move to work with it, the connection is dropped.?????

Please help!

1. Try using a different USB port in the back of the PC, not a USB hub or front PC port.
2. Can you use a different PC?
