Default I have a question I don't see answered

Please Login to Remove!

If I load an OS from a different carrier will I lose the apps that are specific to my carrier? For instance, I am on AT&T and I have Cellular Video (CV). Will that still be on my phone and usable?

Could you please be more specific, and what does this have to do with this thread?

I just saw what I linked for the first time today (though I had not looked at the BB.com page for a couple weeks or so). This is a thread about upgrading the OS and it is in the general discussion. If there are myths about different carriers and different OS versions then what/how/when does the link I posted do anything. Does it verify what carrier you are with? What does it do? I have not tried it, I know nothing about it, but I am sure it is listed as an upgrade and it is on the BB page not AT&T, Verizon, Tmo, etc. So what does it do, what myths are there about it and how it does whatever it does. What else do you request that I specify?

Okay, I've been trying to upgrade my 8830 to OS 4.5 with NO luck, but your post said to run as administrator if using Vista (which I am) so now I am trying it all over again and hopefully it will work! I kept getting an error message: net.rim.platform.ecmascript

I love my BB, but I'm tired of fooling with it for HOURS trying to upgrade it! I hope it works this time! Thanks for the information you posted!

Just added: it seems to be installing now These little buggers have a mind of their own sometimes! But I'm addicted to my BB!

Welcome to the forums.

Glad you got it figured out. Try resending your service books:

Why do I need to resend my service books? The link won't open to allow me to figure it out! Last night after all was well, I lost everything on my BB. Thank GOD I had created back-up files and I'm up and running this morning

When you upgrade to 4.5 you need to resend your service books to receive HTML email.

Resending service books never hurts and makes sure you're using the latest ones for your OS and your carrier.

FAQ is great!

Basically, just uninstall the 5.0 OS from Control panel >Add remove programs. Then (if its not installed already) just install the .247 OS and run Loader.exe. It will downgrade just as it upgraded.

Thanks for everyone's help! How do I resend the service books? This would explain why I can't view my email in html--and I just paid $30 for Empower and cannot find it on my device!

One more thing~ my device won't recognize my username and password when I try to add another email. I know I'm using the correct name/password. I can use my PC to send email to it and it shows up, but I can't do it from my device. I have Java enabled too.

Thanks everyone
