Cool BES 5 Transported Migrated Users not working...please help!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,

We've recently installed BES5, fresh new install, using a new SRP (upgraded to 5.0.2.28). This is co-exisiting with the old BES server which is where our users (125 ish) are currently running on BES 4.1.6. without problems. The new install was installed using the exisiting BESAdmin account.

We have also upgraded at the same time to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003.

Moved all non blackberry users over from 2003 to 2010 - they all work fine.

Moved over some blackberry users to 2010, along with the BESAdmin account and this still allowed blackberry users to work (all be it a bit slower) - even though they were still on 4.1.6.

Moved 2 users over to BES 5 using transporter and this stopped the devices working. This is the email I've sent our Blackberry support, wanted to post on here to see if anoyone else could help as we're running out of ideas...

Migrated 2 blackberries over from old to new using transporter, not working, found there to be an SRP error – trouble-shooted this yesterday with you, new SRP ID and key issued.
The SRP is now registered and connected (good news) the 2 blackberries I’ve migrated over are still not working, re-sent service books which didn’t fix anything.
Tried to re-activate one of the two blackberries, by generating a blackberry activation password and re-activating, the user receives the ETP.dat file with the key to their outlook, (which stays in Outlook) but still no activity on the blackberry (activation fails, unable to contact server).
Migrated over another device via transporter (thought I would try again as the 2 already on there were migrated before the SRP issue was sorted) this doesn’t work either (see transporter log below in red).
Tried setting up a completely new user who previously has never had a blackberry and the activation fails – unable to contact server.

One thing that I noticed was the Host Routing Information, should this be blank or set to localhost ?! I’ve tried both but not sure what this should be. (see figure 1)

Also another point that I noticed with the 3rd user that I migrated today, was that I can see the IT policy has been applied successfully, whereas on the 2 that were migrated prior to the SRP issue the (default?!) policy has not been applied. (see figure 2 and 3)

And when I try and do a test message from Manage Users – User Name – send message I get the request could not be completed (see figure 4)

Here is the LOG of the Transporter for the 3rd device we migrated after the SRP issue was sorted:

Have you checked the permissions for BESAdmin. Send as, recieve as etc. If the ETP message is stuck in the mailbox then normally its send as missing, firewall issue.

Can you run the IEMStest on the user and post what it says?

Hi Hannah, thanks for the reply I will double check this now but it is the same BESadmin account that is being used for the old BES server which is working OK.

Will check now and run the test and come back

Cheers

The only permissions the BesADMIN account has on the users that I've checked on so far is Send As - could this be something !? Baring in mind that these users were working fine on the old BES server, on the same domain using the same BesADMIN account which hasnt been changed ?! Infact, the same BES account is serving my blackberry which is on the old BES server and is working OK !?

Just about to run the IEMStest

Thanks

Can you run the IEMSTest?

See this below how to run it.

Have a look at this:

OK, I've read that, I will run the command on 2010 and see what the outcome is and come back.

Also, on a side note and something that I am scratching my head about, when I used the IEMSTest the two profiles it brought up were

BlackBerryServer_MailStoreProfile
and
BlackBerryServer

Is this correct ?! Should it not be using the BesADMIN account that has been setup in the Blackberry Server Configuration - Blackberry Server Tab - Edit MAPI Profile BESAdmin mailbox !? Or is this something totally different !?

Cheers

You should run it for a users name.

4.1.6 does not support Exchange 2010, so you are on your own there.

What you should have done is:
  • Setup BES 5
  • Create and activate a test user (Exchange 2003) on BES 5.0
  • Check if he activates and syncs ok.
  • If that all works, use transporter to move everybody over from 4.1.6 to 5.0 (everyboday still on Exchange 2003)
  • Once everybody is happy and working, move users to Exchange 2010 (there are docs how to do that).

Thanks Freakinvibe.

We set a new user up on 2010 and then tried them on bes 5 and that didnt work, will sett up a new user on 2003 and then try them on BES 5 and come back to you.

Before I do though, I am going to run with Hannah814 suggestion as the problem seems to lie in connecting to the MSGStores.

Hmmm, I've run the script
