I found, this article:
How BlackBerry blew it: The inside story - The Globe and Mail

Is a worthwile reading regarding this topic. Wether or not everything which is told there is true, it sounds likely.

Maybe BlackBerry should have listened to this guy: Open letter to BlackBerry bosses: Senior RIM exec tells all as company crumbles around him | BGR
He made some good points.

Blackberry (RIM) was failing long before the Z10 was introduced.
Doubtful if anything can keep them whole at this point

The Z30 will have a similar fate as the Z10

Some very interesting reading. One thing for sure, blackberry and Microsoft made the same strategic mistakes. They did not listen to the customers and tried to satisfy two vastly different customer bases. Corporate customers are very very disappointed in the latest blackberry phones and it follows the same pattern Microsoft traveled. They decided corporate customers wanted to have a cell phone view ( windows 8) on the laptop and desktops. Microsoft is leading the push to kill the laptop and desktop thinking all the world needs is a touch pad device. Sadly Blackberry thinks the same thing. Dump the corporate needs and ignore the complaints. Funny how both companys had huge write downs on their latest offerings, Z10 and Surface tablets.

Probably... Won't appeal to the masses but I'm still going to get one.
