Please Login to Remove!

wondering if Switch off 3g (ie switch it to 2g/GSM only in settings)-

does it save battery life? ie SIGNIFICANTLY?

I thought it would be the number one battery high usage

I don't think you can switch off 3g on the AT&T Bold. However, I have to say it is the most efficient 3g phone I've owned (Tilt, Blackjack, and iPhone previously - all sucked battery). I don't know how they tune it (throttle down 3g until gets mail heartbeat for push? - who knows) but I can heavy use it all day and still have battery at 11:00pm - my iPhone 3g would be sucking red battery warnings by 4:00pm...

Since you do not have an AT&T Bold, you should have the option to drop to 2G in your Mobile Network Options. This will improve your battery life, as will 3G over the "3G & 2G" setting.

I find better battery life running 2G with WiFi turned over full 3G.

Upgrading your firmware should help the battery life on 3G. It seems to be working for me. I went from .167 to .185.

That can happen. Depends on the strength of the respective 3G and EDGE signals.

I've had times where I had a 5 bar 3G signal, and 2 bar EDGE signal, and vice-versa. In a low-reception area, EDGE is much more efficient at saving battery. But in a deep metro area, there might not be much difference, but if 3G is congested, EDGE can sometimes be more efficient for this situation.
