HTML email issues
Please Login to Remove!
Hey guys,
I've spent the past 24 hours trying to solve this issue...
I stopped being able to receive HTML emails as of October 25. HTML was fine before then. Plain text receives just fine. Now instead, I get the HTML code in every received email, for example:
Quote:
!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd" html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" head title/title /head body This is only a testbr / /body /html
|
I've done the following: - Deleted, resent service books
- Wiped device, installed 3 different OS (Tmo .81, Asian .81, beta .93)
- Deleted all accounts on BIS, resent service books
- Enabled/Disabled HTML options numerous times
Nothing works.
I'm short of calling TMo customer service but I'm afraid they won't solve my issue.
Any ideas?

Sorry, don't have any solutions but I too got html with .77 on my 8130 2 months ago and then about 2 weeks ago it stopped.

I have seen a couple other users report this, but I haven't seen a fix.
Honestly, I think it is connected with the RIM scheduled maintenance early early on Saturday morning. But I don't have any advice you at at this point.

I appreciate the responses guys. I guess the only way to know for sure is to wait and see how it plays out. My hope is TMo/RIM is having temporary issues.
I will be switching HTML off for now since plain text shows up just fine.
If anyone else has any input, please post

Call customer support and complain. They will escalate to RIM.
I doubt RIM is intentionally turning off HTML support for random blackberries.

Well, I called TMo, after 2.5 hours on the phone they went through everything I've already done and it still has problems. They offered advanced support to RIM but I'll wait until tomorrow since my ear is nice and raw from being on the phone too long.

My 8320 with OS .93 is doing the same thing. Looking forward to a solution sooner rather than later.

I'm glad I'm not the only one out there. Did you call them? Hopefully there is enough people calling CS to start a ticket with RIM. I hope this resolves and I'm praying it's just a weekend maintenance glitch.

Rogers user here in Canada. I have the same issue, but a number of different sceneros are showing up:
* It would a) receive only the first line, stop, with a message of "More available: 1 byte" but won't receive any more even when I ask it to;
* b) receive the entire message, and at the end of the message, repeat itself again so the message appears twice; or
* c) receive part of the message in code, part of it formatted HTML, and then stop receiving the message.
In both scenarios, the message status will turn into a red "x" and change from opened to "Couldn't send more message".
But, when I go to options and choose "get plain text", the plain text shows up fine.
Tried everything including resending Service Books, wiping the machine and reinstalling OS.
I'm gald (in a way) that it's not solely a Rogers issue, and rather spreading -- at least -- across the U.S., too. It's probably related to the "upgrades" on Oct. 25...

Those same issues started with me before this current issue, about 2 weeks ago. I thought it would stop but it hasn't. Don't forget to call CS to have them note the issue and upgrade your problem to RIM support.

Exact same problem here, also starting on the 25th. I didn't wipe the device, but tried the other possible solutions. Nothing worked.

Please note my previous post. I just upgraded my 8130 to OS .89 and I have html email back. Go figure.

I too have the same issue starting 10/25. Upgrading to the latest OS on my 8800 did not help. I am on T-Mobile.

I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with T-Mobile CS and RIM today. RIM finally put me through to an escalation team. Throughout the interminable time delays I re-installed my OS, wiped my Curve, pulled the battery, resent the Service books, cleared the messaged folder, etc., etc., etc. Finally the escalation team "did something on their end" and I am not receiving html messages normally.
The RIM techie said they had received several complaints about this issue and they initially thought it was a bug in their OS. In fact, they told me whatever they did on their end would not fix my problem, but lo and behold, it did.
I suggest, if yours is not currently working, that you call RIM and ask for the escalation team. They seemed to imply their fix would satisfy ALL complaints so you may not be receiving html as normal.
If you'd like send me a PM and I will give you my case number so you can use it with the RIM techie to see what steps they went through to resolve my problem.
Good luck!!
