Question white screen question

Please Login to Remove!

I have recently been having problems with my 9300 I kept getting the white screen during use then the phone would reboot, I contacted the company my contract is with and they sent it off for repairs, I have now been told by them today that the circuit board is burnt out and my warranty is void. Im not sure if they are trying to dodge replacing the handset but would the handset still turn on and work if the circuit board was burnt out ? I would be able to use the phone for abit then it would go white screen and reboot during play music, I don't see how I could of done it, it started after I had a BlackBerry update on App World which I did with out it being connected to the computer.
Thanks

I checked the sticker on the battery and on the inside of the phone but both had not changed colour so I don't think it could be water damage?

If you get a white screen with an error message, what is the error message? It will be in very small font, and the device won't do anything. You may be able to restart it and have it work (for a while, anyway) or the device may return immediately to the same error. The error nessage will point you to the problem, and possibly a solution. Often the solution is reinstalling the device software.

If it is an all white screen with no error message, nothing but white screen, and the device is working otherwise, then it is a gardware failure. You can reload the device software and you will still have the white screen, most likely.

You indicate the device was working otherwise. Sounds like the latter case. Do a search on the forum. There is a member who claims to have repaired this type of failure with tape supporting a connector. I cannot vouch for it. Take it for what it's worth. It may be worth a try.

Thanks for the reply. Nope I don't have a error message it just goes to a white screen in use and then it automatically goes to the rebooting screen. I'll have a look at what u suggested thanks again

The rebooting is not a good sign, or maybe it is.

Before opening the device and trying to repair anything, go ahead and reinstall the device OS. Maybe yours is the exception that proves the rule. Typically you just get the all white screen and everything else is working as it should, indicating just a hardware issue associated with the display. But your observation is different. The rebooting may be another hardware issue is involved, or it may be the white screen and the rebooting is a software issue.

Take the media card out, if you are using one. Test. If you still have trouble, reinstall the device software.

Repeat...don't try any repairs at this point. Test without the media card. If that doesn't work, reinstall the device software (reinstall the OS).
