Hi Guys,

I have a strange problem. The Blackberry Browser is unable to browse the Intranet but browsing the Internet is fine. We are using the BES and it was working up to a few days ago. Of course as is normal the firewall and BES admins claim they haven't changed anything and keep blaming each other. The error that comes up is HTTP Error 504: Gateway timeout. The intranet sites are all working fine. Can anybody assist with this? Especially with how the architecture is set up.

Oh and I am using the IP addresses to access the intranet. And I can browse the Intranet directly from the BES no problem.

Have you rebooted the BES or restarted BES services?

It fixes things you or RIM does not know.

What web server product are you using for your Intranet, IIS 6?

Yes I am using IIS 6. I will also try the reboot.

Have you switched on Windows integrated authentication on IIS or do you allow only anonymous access? For browsing internally, do you use a proxy server?

It is also important that you use the MDS browser on the BB device. Avoid any other browser as they connect directly via the carrier and can't reach your Intranet.

We use a proxy server. And I am using the Blackberry Browser is that the same as the MDS?

Yes, the Blackberry Browser goes via your internal network. If you have a proxy, you have to indicate that in the Blackberry Manager under

MDS > Proxy > Proxy Mappings

And provide a username and password that has access to the proxy. Also, you should probably have an extra mapping to avoid the proxy for internal sites.

In the same order of questions. If our Intranet is logged in by the username logged on the computer. How can be bypass the BESAdmin account so that when a user is logged in using their Blackberry that the intranet does not think its the BESAdmin account... but the user one instead...
