Has anyone heard anything on the speaker blast issue? This is driving my callers crazy. I like the features on 4.5, but I need to get this issue resolved. I asked my VZW sales guy about the issue and he forwarded by email to a tech, but neither was aware of the issue. Had anyone else talked to VZW?

I just don't understand statements like this? How can a tech not be aware of this issue, when it affects so many? Granted, it seems to be sporadic on who it hits and intermittent even then for most if not all, but I would think someone in a tech position would be perusing the major forums such as this one. Does the tech know what a BlackBerry is I wonder?

Trouble installing
I just tried installing the new OS for the first time and am having some difficulty. I'm sure it's just something that I'm doing, but I downloaded the install file, deleted the vendor.xml file and ran loader.exe. All I get, though, is the application loader that allows me to remove and add apps to my 8330. It won't actually update to the new OS, what am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the upgrade. Man that was a pain to get everything working again. It just shows I need to learn a lot more about Blackberry's. Had to delete my email account and then create it again. Several programs needed to be registered again. But other than that, everything went fine. (Oh and I am not complaining, I loved the challenge!!) <bg>

You need to do an advanced search on your PC and make sure there are no more Vendor Files hidden somewhere. If so make sure you delete them and you should be good to go.

I have installed the new version on my 8330 and now I can't send or receive messages. I have resent my "books" from the BIS. Neither my BES account or my BIS account work.

Want to know why these software glitches (ie. speaker blast) are not only missed by RIM but not even fixed?
WSJ article:
Mr. Balsillie said such scrambles -- and the subsequent software glitches that need to be fixed -- are part of the "new reality" of making complex cellphones in large volumes.
If the CEO doesn't even care about quality, who does?

I was definitely a little disappointed when I read the news of Mr. Balsillie saying such a thing. It MAY BE a reality (as it certainly is with M$ Windows), but shouldn't companies be striving for releasing an OS, app or tool with as few bugs as possible and demanding the greatest quality from themselves before they release to the public? Of course bugs will always appear because it is impossible to "test" for every possible scenario ahead of time. But it seem that RIM is content on releasing OS upgrades even with KNOWN problems as "its part of a new reality when making more complex cellphones in large volumes". Take the speakerblast for instance. This has been a KNOWN problem for quite some time now.
I really wish a txt file was included with each OS release to state exactly which "fixes" were applied and any "new features/enhancements" to the OS. Is it really that hard to do? Most 3rd party apps (especially in the Windows world) provide you with such a convenience. It would certainly cut back on the endless threads like "Hey, whats new/different in OS 4.5.x.x should I upgrade?"
Chris

What version did your new Curve come with? 4.5 is the version that introduced the speakerphone blast. However, it seems not everyone has it nor for those who do it is intermittent.

I am new to using a blackberry so please forgive me if my question makes me sound a bit out of the loop.
I have a 8330 BB from Telus running 4.3.0.124 and would like to upgrade to 4.5.0.122.
Since I run an Mac OS computer I will be having to borrow my husbands Windows XP computer to do the upgrade to my BB.
Must I first install the BB User Tools which came in the packaging with my BB before I download the 4.5 upgrade to my computer ?
Once I do that will I have any potential problems with download to my BB ?

When I get my 8330 phone tomorrow, should I consider my carrier download or this one? What's the main difference?

Sprint has officially acknowledge release 4.5.0.131. In the notes about new features, MMS is indicated as added. I am running 131, and sure enough, MMS is there.
