Default How to add outlook.com account to BB Hub?

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings,
I'm a new Key2 owner. Trying to add my outlook.com account to BB Hub.

The hands-off method, whereby only the email address and password are provided, fails.

So, I'm trying the manual method. I am supplying the Hub setup dialog with the following inputs (which Microsoft provides here: support(dot)office(dot)com/en-us/article/POP-IMAP-and-SMTP-settings-for-Outlook-com-d088b986-291d-42b8-9564-9c414e2aa040 )

IMAP server name imap-mail.outlook.com
IMAP port 993
IMAP encryption method TLS
The result is: "Your account can't be authenticated."

When I make the following adjustment:
IMAP server name imap-mail.outlook.live.com
IMAP port 993
IMAP encryption method TLS
...the result is: "Can't connect to the server."

I removed the imap-mail portion of the server name, thus:
IMAP server name outlook.live.com
IMAP port 993
IMAP encryption method TLS
Result: "Can't connect to the server"

I consulted the BB Knowledge Base, and made another adjustment:
IMAP server name outlook.office365.com
IMAP port 993
IMAP encryption method TLS
...and the result is: "Your account can't be authenticated."

One last Hail Mary:
IMAP server name imap-mail.outlook.office365.com
IMAP port 993
IMAP encryption method TLS
Result: "Can't connect to the server."

I enabled POP on my outlook.com account, attempted to add the account to BB Hub as POP3, and got the same results for all the same permutations above.

Interestingly, on the Microsoft side, on the Recent Activity page of my MS account, the attempted logins from the BB's IP address are logged -- both the IMAP and POP attempts in all their various permutations. And for each attempt, the log shows "successful sync." Which is a lie, but interesting nonetheless.

Anybody figure this out? Thank you.

I used

https://www.techhit.com/how-to/confi...e_settings.png

also the SSL security on incoming
TLS on outgoing.

I'm using BB10, not BlackBerry's Android.

I don't remember precisely how I setup. I think I must have gone to advanced setup and selected outlook.com. At any rate, I'm using exchange and not IMAP.

With the above caveats....

server address: outlook.office365.com

port: 443

Use SSL: enabled

Use VPN: disabled

Push: enabled

I received an email about the use of Outlook on my Pc from Yahoo indicating a change to two step authentication. somehow I think Microsoft and Yahoo are collaborating on some changes now that Verizon own Yahoo.
Also Microsoft will now charge yearly for Office which includes Outlook.

Looks like I will keep the old stuff.
time will tell.

I use active sync and no more ports to mess with.
Its enabled by default and does a better job of synch.

To use IMAP or pop, you have to log in to outlook.com to enable it.

Thanks, everyone. I've tried to employ the methods you've suggested, to no avail. I'm still stuck on "account can't be authenticated." I'm using the IMAP connection method, and am using the server settings provided by outlook.com that are in use with my Office 365 account. Outlook works fine on my PCs, but for reasons I cannot fathom, the BB Hub account setup procedure "can't authenticate" my outlook.office365.com credentials.

As a fallback, I am able to access my outlook.com email by using the Outlook App on the Key2. I can download/install the app, plug in my account info, and be in business in 60 seconds.

. . . . but isn't the whole point of BBHub to consolidate various email accounts into a single stream? It was a, uh, key reason why I dropped the money on this device in the first place. It's an aggravation to have to use multiple apps to monitor my various email accounts.

Thank you, but as I said, I've tried all the permutations offered by those who have responded to my OP -- no luck. I've tried Exchange with:

server = outlook.office365.com
port = 443
Security = SSL/TLS

Result: "your account can't be authenticated."

I reviewed thread and don't see anything about your security settings with Microsoft or Outlook 365.

It's been so long I don't remember if app passwords are mandatory or not. I suspect so.

Are you trying to use your account password or are you setting up an app password for the account setup in the Hub?

Currently I use ATT/Yahoo for email It allows all email addresses to be seen on the BB Hub. So far I have been able to get all email on the Z10 device.

username ( email username )
email address ( email username )
password ( email password )
server address ( inbound.att.net ) Also use on one email ( rim.imap.mail.yahoo.com )
port 110 or 993 on the rim.imap server
encryption SSL
SMTP username
SMTP server address ( outbound.att.net )
SMTP port 465
SMTP encryption SSL

My goal is to avoid using the MS Outlook App for Android altogether. I currently have it installed on my Key2, because I can't fingure out how to add my outlook.office365 account to BBHub.Ultimately, however, I hope to remove the MS Outlook App for Android from the Key2, and rely only on BBHub to interact with all email accounts.

When setting up the MS Outlook App for Android, I used my Microsoft account password. As far as I am aware, the MS Outlook App for Android does not require -- or even permit -- its own password. Everything Microsoft is supposed to work from a single password -- or so I understand.

To your question: When attempting to set up my outlook account in BBHub, I also am using my Microsoft account password.

No. I'm not talking about an app, though the Hub of course is an app.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...p-verification

Different services call this by different terms, but same thing. Microsoft calls it an app password. You generate an app password for use instead of your account password, and you generate a different new app password for each different application. For example, you may have Outlook by which you access your Outlook email account on your desktop computer, and your Microsoft Outlook account in the Hub app on your device. You would generate an app password for the desktop and then another for the device.

Now, I'm not sure if Microsoft is forcing 2FA and app passwords or not. I've been using 2FA and app passwords for a long time now. If I were in your shoes, I would enable 2FA on you Microsoft account (if you haven't already), then generate an app password and use it for your Outlook account settings in the Hub.

Holy cow: That worked.

Thank you!

How in the world anyone would be able to determine this method without help like yours, is beyond me.

I do use 2FA as a matter of routine for various online accounts, including my Microsoft Account. But during this entire process, there was never Word One from Microsoft, or BB Hub, about 2FA being relevant to the creation of an account in the Hub.

I'm also a bit puzzled by the instructions at the Microsoft Using App Passwords page, the link to which you posted in the message above. The page said:
After you turn on two-step verification, you may run into issues if you use apps or older devices (like Windows Phone 8 and Xbox 360) that don't support two-step verification.
Hm. "Older devices" doesn't sound like the BB Key2, or BBHub.

Then the page said:
If you have two-step verification turned on and an app isn't prompting you to enter a security code when you sign in, you may be able to sign in with an app password instead.
  • 2-setp verication on? Yes
  • App (BBHub) prompting you to enter a security code to sign in? No (but then, the Hub never prompts me for a security code when I launch it. My "security code" is entered when I unlock the device.

Another point of confusion: My Google account also is set up to require 2FA, yet the Hub configured my Gmail account without a hitch. In that case, too, the Hub did not prompt me for a security code. Yet I did not need to create anything like an app password; the Hub just loaded the Gmail account, no sweat.

Anyway, thank you again for your diligence in seeing me through this mysterious process.

Different services, different policies. I would not dwell on why.

Happy to hear you have it working now.

Hi everyone, I’ve had using forex robot (Spy-Fx) for 2 weeks. Started with USD2000 account on FXHelp. Its’ been going well and i can say that i have confidence in the EAs and the team of developers. As a total newbie to the currency market (i dont have any prior experience in manual trading, signals, copytrading or EAs) i want to list down a few things i’ve learnt over the past two weeks and hope it will be a rough guide to other complete NEWBIES who want to get in on forex trading with Spy-Fx on FXHelp. Always put your EA’s on demo and see how it operates. On demo, you can observe and learn how to use MT4 trading platform & the EA and make mistakes and try ideas/strategies/control emotions.
