Default Hotmail issues with Rogers (that didn't exist with Fido)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I recently switched from Fido to Rogers using same handset. My understanding was that Fido doesn't even use true BIS but like a BlackBerry Connect or whatever. However, when I was with Fido, my Hotmail had some sync'ing as in, when I read, sent, or deleted emails on my BlackBerry it would reflect the same when I login to Hotmail.

Yet now with Rogers, when I read or send an email on my BlackBerry, it's not reflected when I login to Hotmail. I can live with it not reflecting that emails have been read, but the sent emails don't even appear in my Hotmail account. That's not good since emails aren't kept forever on my BlackBerry. So any outgoing emails are lost forever once they automatically purge from my handset.

Can anyone help? Any ideas?

Log into your BIS account and edit the set up for hotmail to add an auto BCC.

You mean to send a copy to my Hotmail? I suppose that's a remedy. But I just don't get why it's inconsistent from one carrier to the next. Or even from one person to the next.

Some carriers make auto bcc a default, others do not.

But won't Auto BCC send a copy to my inbox? When with Fido, I send an email, it would appear in my Sent folder on Hotmail. There was definitely no Auto BCC.

I see where you want it to go now. Email doesn't sync using BIS. Some ISPs have arrangements with RIM. I didn't think Hotmail did since RIM and Microsoft have been a odds with each other for a while now.

Maybe you had a rule set someplace that did it?

I wouldn't know because when with Fido, I set it up in the fido.blackberry.com page and likewise, with Rogers, I set it up in the rogers.blackberry.com page. Never did anything extra other then checking the box to synchronize deleted items. There isn't many other options.

It's strange because it's fine for others with Rogers and Hotmail.
